Child Eye Examinations

Did you know?

Your child does not need to be able to read in order to have their eyes checked?

80% of learning is done through the eyes and that 1 in 6 children has a vision problem significant enough to affect their learning?

Children with poor vision may be misdiagnosed as having a learning or behavioural disability?

We recommend that initial children eye examinations take place between the ages of 6-9 months.

OHIP covers theses services until and including the age of 19.

We can detect the above conditions simply by looking at the eyes and how our lights shine back at us.

Their second eye exam can then be annually or by the age of 3. Again, depending on the level of communication and comprehension, we can use our lights to ensure your child has healthy eyes, good vision and proper eye coordination.

From then on, our optometrists recommend a yearly eye exam. As your child grows, so can their eyes and it is therefore important to monitor them regularly.
